    Profilingvalues Method: Scientific Practice Guide

Cover image for the article: Profilingvalues Method: Scientific Practice Guide (Profilingvalues)

Be honest: You've surely made decisions that looked logical on paper but felt wrong anyway. The reason often lies deeper. Values and motives control your actions – mostly unconsciously. This is exactly where the Profilingvalues method comes in. It reveals what drives you at the core. Without categories, without labels. Precise, transparent and practical.

This article shows you how the method works, why it's scientifically convincing, and how to use results wisely – in coaching, HR and for yourself.

What Profilingvalues Measures – and What It Doesn't

    No Types, But Priorities

Profilingvalues doesn't measure "types." It captures the ranking and intensity of your individual values and motives. This shifts the focus away from labels ("You're Type X") to the question: *What matters more to you in this context?*

An example: Autonomy may be central for you, while security is secondary. This isn't a good-bad judgment. It indicates where energy flows – and where friction arises when conditions don't match.

    Preference-Based Instead of Yes/No

The method works with preference-based evaluations. You rank statements or options by personal relevance. This makes unconscious priorities visible and reduces socially desirable answers. You can hardly "game" the test because it's about consistent weightings, not correct answers.

    Mini-Exercise: Your Spontaneous Values Ranking

Take two minutes. Mentally sort: Autonomy, Security, Achievement, Belonging. Which two are on top – today, in your reality? Where do you feel friction? Note an example from this week. This is exactly what the Profilingvalues method does systematically.

Scientific Quality: Validity, Reliability, Clear Boundaries

Measuring What It Claims to Measure

Validity means: Does the test really measure values and motives – not mood, intelligence or rhetoric? Profilingvalues was psychometrically developed to map exactly these constructs. Studies and practical experience suggest that results meaningfully predict behavior and preferences.

    Consistency in Repetition

Reliability means: Under similar conditions, you get comparable results. This creates trust – especially in HR and coaching contexts where consequences are real. Tip: Take the test in a quiet environment and read instructions carefully.

    Being Transparent About Limitations

Important: Profilingvalues is not a clinical diagnostic instrument and doesn't replace therapy. It shows patterns and priorities – not final truths. Interpretations need context: role, environment, current life situation.

Reading Results: Values Profile, Motive Analysis, Personality Profile

    Values Profile: Understanding Rankings

The values profile shows which values rank highest – such as autonomy, security, achievement, belonging. High values are energy sources. When fulfilled, you feel aligned. Low values aren't "bad" – they're areas where you're more flexible.

Motive Analysis: What Draws You Internally

Motive structures describe needs like influence, recognition, stability or creativity. A strong achievement motive seeks goals, feedback and growth opportunities. A strong belonging motive needs reliable relationships and team spirit.

Personality Profile: Overview Instead of Category

The personality profile connects values and motives. Imagine Lea: Autonomy and creativity high, belonging medium, security low. In a regulated corporation, she internally rolls her eyes. In a product team with creative freedom, she thrives. That's how you read Profilingvalues: as a map for fitting environments.

Using It Responsibly: Ethics and Practice in HR & Coaching

    Framework Conditions for Quality

Plan 20–30 minutes in a quiet environment. The test is suitable from about age 16 and available in multiple languages. Repeat? Recommended after significant life events or after one year.

    Data Protection and Ethics

Your results belong to you. Share them only consciously. In HR or team settings: transparency, voluntariness, clarity of benefit. Decision-makers should never use results in isolation but always combine them with interviews, references and work samples.

    Seize Opportunities, Avoid Misinterpretations

There are no "good" or "bad" values. Meaning lies in ranking, intensity and context. Common thinking traps: "Low value = deficit" is wrong – it's often simply lower priority. "High motive = always good" is also wrong – a strong achievement motive needs recovery and clear goals.

How to Implement It Today: 7 Steps

    1. Plan quiet time: 30 minutes without distractions for the test.

    2. Clarify intention: What decision is pending (job choice, team, development)? Note a guiding question.

    3. Take the test: Answer spontaneously, not strategically. Preferences over perfection.

    4. Sort results: Highlight top-3 values and top-2 motives. Note a concrete example for each.

    5. Check context: Where does your environment match the ranking? Where does friction arise?

    6. Build action plan: For each top value, one micro-action (15–30 min per day).

    7. Schedule reflection: Review in two weeks. Optional: repeat after 6–12 months.
