Key statements about the 1:1 Deep Dive

Five statements that frame the Deep Dive – without promises of results and without figures we cannot substantiate.

    • The 1:1 Deep Dive combines purpose and strengths work across six months with 10–12 sessions of 60–90 minutes – designed for clarity ahead of a major professional decision.

    • It is based on two structured assessments: CliftonStrengths® 34 shows your talent patterns across 34 themes, profilingvalues makes your value order and motivation visible.

    • Every session ends with an observable decision or action, not with a good intention.

    • You work with Philipp Fuchs, founder and Lead Coach, Gallup-certified CliftonStrengths® coach and profilingvalues® Mastercoach.

    • Unlike classic career advice, the Deep Dive starts one level deeper: with talents, values and meaning – not with the next job title.

    Methods and their sources

    Gallup CliftonStrengths®

Talent assessment developed by the Gallup Organization; it ranks 34 talent themes individually. CliftonStrengths® and Gallup® are trademarks of Gallup, Inc.; PurposeCoach® is an independent provider.

Gallup reports that people who use their strengths every day are considerably more engaged at work and rate their quality of life higher. This is a general research finding, not a result of this programme. Gallup: How CliftonStrengths works

Practice examples: what actually changed in coaching

The following anonymised examples come from PurposeCoach® client work. They illustrate individual coaching journeys and are not controlled efficacy studies. Results cannot be guaranteed.

More shared responsibility instead of constant overload

    Starting point
A team lead in an IT services company with around 40 employees handled nearly every escalation herself. Her dominant CliftonStrengths® themes included Responsibility, Restorative and Empathy.
    Work in coaching
We examined when Responsibility served her well – and when it tipped into over-responsibility. She then introduced a binding handover rule and a weekly workload check.
    Observable outcome
After eight weeks she reported having her evenings reliably to herself again. At the same time, two team members visibly took on more responsibility.
    How to read this
These statements rest on the client's own report and observed changes in daily work, not on a controlled comparison measurement.

From nine offers to one clear portfolio

    Starting point
An independent consultant wanted to reposition her offer after twelve years in the profession. Her pronounced talents Ideation, Strategic and Significance produced many attractive options – and a portfolio that was hard to understand.
    Work in coaching
We connected her talent patterns with her value priorities and developed clear decision criteria for audience, impact and economic viability.
    Observable outcome
She reduced her portfolio from nine to three core offers. In the client conversations that followed she reported fewer price negotiations and clearer positioning.
    How to read this
This outcome is also an anonymised self-report. It documents individual transfer, not a general or causal effect of the assessments used.

    Research and methodological basis

CliftonStrengths®: making talents visible and discussable

CliftonStrengths® captures recurring patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving and maps them onto 34 talent themes. Gallup describes the assessment as a development instrument – not a clinical diagnosis, aptitude test or complete description of a personality.

A Gallup meta-analysis on strengths-based interventions examined links to sales, profit, customer and employee retention, turnover and safety. Gallup reports, among other figures, profit differences of 14.4 to 29.4 %, sales differences of 10.3 to 19.3 % and 22 to 59 % fewer safety incidents between the groups studied. These values come from organisational group data and are not a guarantee of results for individual coaching.

A further Gallup analysis of CliftonStrengths® 34 covers 34 studies, 30 organisations, 187,291 people, 13 industries and 37 countries. Gallup documents structure, quality criteria and intended use in its scientific overview.

Transparency note: These studies were published by Gallup itself. They are vendor research and are not equivalent to a fully independent evaluation.

profilingvalues: values, motivation and perceived capabilities

profilingvalues is a value-metric procedure based on Robert S. Hartman's value science. It makes value priorities, motivation, perceived capabilities and possible tensions discussable. PurposeCoach® uses the result as a structured basis for conversation – never as the sole basis for hiring, promotion or aptitude decisions.

The provider describes the procedure as scientifically validated and points to its methodological foundations.

We therefore phrase it precisely: profilingvalues is a vendor-validated, value-metric reflection instrument. In coaching, its results are checked against dialogue, context and observable behaviour.

Transparency note: What is publicly available is mainly information from the provider. As long as no freely accessible independent validation study with sample, reliability and validity measures exists, we do not claim 'scientifically proven effectiveness'.

Frequently asked questions about CliftonStrengths® and profilingvalues

What is the difference between CliftonStrengths® and profilingvalues?

CliftonStrengths® describes preferred talent patterns: how do I typically think, feel and act? profilingvalues focuses more on value priorities, motivation, self-perception and possible inner tensions. The Deep Dive connects both perspectives without turning them into a rigid personality box.

    Do I need both assessments?

Not necessarily. CliftonStrengths® can be enough when the core question concerns talents, ways of working or leadership behaviour. profilingvalues adds value when motivation, value fit, strain or a difficult decision is at stake. We clarify the sensible combination transparently before we start.

    Are the results a diagnosis?

No. Neither instrument replaces medical or psychological diagnostics. They do not diagnose depression, burnout or personality disorders. For such symptoms PurposeCoach® recommends assessment by qualified medical or psychotherapeutic professionals.

    Can my results change?

CliftonStrengths® describes relatively stable talent patterns; order and expression can still be influenced by life stage, role and context. With profilingvalues, current strain and your own view of your capabilities carry more weight. That is why reports are never interpreted apart from personal context.

How are the results used in the Deep Dive?

The report is the starting point, not the end product. In coaching we connect patterns with concrete situations: decisions, delegation, conflicts, energy use or career direction. From this come observable steps and a transfer plan you can verify.

Can an assessment predict whether someone fits a role?

Neither instrument should determine a hiring or promotion decision on its own. Responsible people practice combines assessments with structured interviews, professional evidence, work samples and observable behaviour.

    How is coaching progress measured?

At the start we define the goal, baseline and observation criteria – for example decision clarity on a scale of 1 to 10, number of escalations taken on, delegated tasks, recovery time or team feedback. Interim and final reviews show what changed and what did not.

    Who interprets my results?

The interpretation is done by Philipp Fuchs, founder and Lead Coach of PurposeCoach®, Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths® Coach, certified profilingvalues practitioner and systemic coach. He works with specialists, leaders, self-employed professionals and people in career transitions.
